Biography
Juan de la Cruz Pabón was born on May 2, 1885, in Guamá, San Germán, Puerto Rico. He was the natural son of María Juliana Pabón Hernández and Ramón Torres Hernández. He married María Petrona Ortiz Cordero, the daughter of Juan Ramón Ortiz Renta and Valentina Cordero Ortiz on September 12, 1906, in San Germán, Puerto Rico. They had five children while living in Guamá: a newborn who died shortly after their marriage, Pedro Juan in 1908, Isabel who died at around a month old in 1910, Ángel David (1914), and Salvador Ángel (1918). Around 1935 he began using the surname Torres as he was recognized by his father. He died on January 16, 1971, in Guamá, San Germán, Puerto Rico at the age of 85.
